Rounding off the 2019 cricket season nicely, the first Kettlewell Fuels Nidderdale Junior Cricket League Finals Day was held at Studley Royal Cricket Club.
A total of 12 junior teams took part from Thorp Arch & Boston Spa, Bishop Monkton, Studley Royal, Harrogate, Pannal, Knaresborough, Ouseburn and Follifoot cricket clubs.
An unexpected guest also appeared on the day - local cricketing hero Ben Coad, whose Dad, Ken Coad, is involved with the league and Studley Royal Cricket Club. Having risen to fame through the junior cricket ranks and now playing for Yorkshire County Cricket, Ben kindly stepped in to present the awards alongside Janet and Trevor Kettlewell.
The winning teams were:
U9 Pairs: Follifoot
Reg Dickens U11 (11-a-side): Ouseburn
U11 Pairs: Pannal
U13: Studley Royal
Commenting on this entertaining day, Janet Kettlewell said: "What an exciting display of cricket. This is exactly why we chose to sponsor the Nidderdale Junior Cricket League. Seeing these young teams battle it out in such a competitive style was fantastic.
"What a thrill too for the teams to be presented with their awards by the talented Ben Coad. It really made the whole event a special occasion for the players.
"As North Yorkshire's trusted independent heating and fuel oil supplier, we are committed to supporting the local community in which we operate. Having been involved with grassroots cricket for many years, the step-up to sponsoring the League means we can support even more teams locally."
